As an inpatient facility for Hospice, the building provides six private bedrooms for palliative care. In addition to the nursing staff support spaces, living, dining and kitchen areas are shared by the patients’ families and friends. Each bedroom opens onto a private patio through a wide doorway, allowing the hospital bed to be rolled outside.

Wide overhangs, porches and pergolas along the building exterior provide sun protection for the large windows and glass doors. Simultaneously, they serve to extend the interior spaces into the carefully landscaped site.

There is a secluded meditative garden adjacent to the chapel room. The geometry of the large, enveloping roof establishes the building as a secure and protective place for the respite of the ill and their loved ones.
