The owners liked the New England details of tight eave and lapped horizontal siding. The pine shake roof carries a 50-year warranty and the siding is finished in a transparent, non-weathering stain.

A very unique feature of the house occurs at the roof level. A small attic tower opens out to a balcony, creating a stage for the telescope and a roost for night time sky watching.
